Associate Financial Advisor
JOB OVERVIEW
The Associate Financial Advisor provides technical financial planning and investment management work.
The key role of this position is to serve, support, and manage our clients collaboratively with the Lead Advisors of our firm. This position provides support in client meetings and assists in the navigation of clients through the entire financial planning experience and decision-making process. This includes, but not limited to: taking notes, preparing client’s financial plans, and discussing those plans with clients as needed. They will aid in the coordination of the planning process with both the client and Lead Advisor(s).
This position requires a pro-active approach and an ability to independently carry out the duties of the position. The ideal candidate will exhibit high standards, excellent communication skills, good judgment, and an ability to take initiative, and prioritize daily tasks. The ability to effectively manage time and multi-task with attention to detail is critical to this role.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
· Focused support and second chair duties in client meetings with an ability to add value to the conversation while gathering data and action items for follow-up
· Provide client follow-up and engagement with clients, pre and post meeting, as well as other needs and communications as they arise
· Coordinates with Lead Advisors in the development and preparation of clients’ financial plans, developing recommendations and solutions in the best interest of the client and ensuring those plans are executed
· Communicate with clients by understanding the needs, objectives, goals, concerns and translating these into an actionable and disciplined plan.
· Coordinate with client’s other advisors (attorney, CPA, etc.) and other external sources to carry out the goals of client service
· Prepare and make recommendations for client financial plans, including entering data and running reports using financial planning software
· Prepare and make recommendations on client investments, including the creation of investment policy statements and portfolio allocation reports
· First line of defense in client responses to Lead Advisors, including phone calls and email
· Other responsibilities, as needed
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
A bachelor’s degree with pursuit of CFP®
Licenses SIE, Series 7, Series 66 (or completed within 90 days of hire)
Ideally 6 plus years of experience leading either client services and/or operations in financial advisory organization
Experience with investments and financial planning applications
Experience working with various custodial platforms
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Desire to work directly with clients
Technical knowledge in financial planning and investment management
Knowledge of investment advisory compliance and regulations
Ability to give and/or learn to give recommendations to clients
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, empathy, and listening)
Demonstrates personal integrity, honesty, and can keep confidential information
Strong self-leadership skills (i.e. emotional and mental health)
Strong technology capabilities (i.e. learn to use software easily)
Ability to deal with stress in an ever-changing investment market and financial transitions of clients
