The role of a Registered Nurse in the Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit focuses on delivering patient-centered care through the nursing process while collaborating with various departments. This position necessitates a valid nursing license, certifications such as BLS and ACLS, and the physical capability to perform rigorous clinical tasks. Emphasis is placed on compliance with healthcare standards, maintaining patient confidentiality, and fostering teamwork within the hospital setting.

This role involves utilizing the nursing process to deliver exceptional patient care. The nurse will maintain professional accountability for the care provided to assigned patients and assess the overall effectiveness of care delivered by other caregivers. Coordination of patient care with other departments is essential, along with upholding patient rights and confidentiality. Responsibilities must align with our mission, values, and service standards.
Position Details:Qualifications:
- Education: Must have graduated from an accredited nursing program (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).
- Licensure: Responsible for obtaining and maintaining a current RN license in the state of employment or compact licensure, meeting all state board of nursing requirements.
- Experience: Relevant experience in nursing is preferred.
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or completion of the course within 30 days of hire.
- Additional certifications may be required based on the specific unit, including but not limited to:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- CPHON (Certified Pediatric/Hematology/Oncology Nurse)
- OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- PEARS (Pediatric Assessment Recognition and Stabilization)
- S.T.A.B.L.E. (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, And Emotional Support)
- C-EFM (Fetal Monitor Certification)
- Other unit-specific certifications as necessary.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to regularly push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 lbs.
- Prolonged standing and walking are required during each shift.
- Capability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to fulfill job responsibilities.
