Job Description
The Central Trucordia Carrier Relations team is looking for a highly experienced and strategic Carrier Relations Director to drive carrier engagement, optimize partnerships, and support offices with carrier-related initiatives. This senior-level role is responsible for strengthening relationships with key P&C carrier partners while ensuring alignment with business objectives to maximize growth and profitability. The ideal candidate will be part of the Trucordia network and invested in the success of the company. They will need to have deep expertise in brokerage and carrier operations, knowledge of complex Property & Casualty insurance products (e.g. CCIPS/OCIPs/Wraps, Environmental/Pollution Liability, Specialty Surety Bonds, and other specialty lines of coverage), and a strong track record in negotiating and managing carrier relationships.
This role is based within the East Platform region (ME, NH, MA, RI, CT, NJ, DE, MD, VA, NC, SC, VT, NY, PA), and candidates must reside within this area to be eligible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organic Growth via Carrier Strategy & Engagement: Responsible to develop and implement platform-specific strategies to enhance carrier relationships and optimize appointments. Platform-level consolidation of partnerships to align with the Trucordia’s long-term goals, ensuring strategic growth and operational efficiency.
- Market Intelligence & Data-Driven Decision Making: Analyze carrier performance metrics (loss ratio, production reports, and other KPIs) and regional/national market trends to drive informed decision-making.
- Brokerage & Platform Support: Serve as the key liaison for platform-level carrier issues, escalating challenges as necessary and ensuring offices maximize available carrier resources.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal stakeholders, including sales leaders, account managers, and executives, to align carrier relationships with business needs and drive strategic initiatives.
- Negotiation & Profitability Optimization: Lead negotiations with carriers to ensure fair compensation, optimize profit-sharing, and create growth opportunities for the platform.
- Operational Excellence: Streamline carrier placement strategies, integrate best practices, and ensure seamless collaboration between the platform and the national Carrier Relations team.
- Industry Representation: Represent the platform in carrier strategy discussions, industry events, and regional carrier meetings to ensure alignment with business objectives.
Qualifications
- Broker Experience (Non-Negotiable): Must have a deep background in brokerage operations and carrier relationship management.
- Senior-Level Expertise: Minimum of 10+ years, preferably within a brokerage. Experience on the carrier side may be considered if it includes significant engagement with brokers and strategic partnership management.
- Complex Insurance Knowledge (Non-Negotiable): Strong understanding of complex insurance products available in the specific geographic region.
- Entrepreneurial Mindset: Ability to think strategically, take initiative, and identify opportunities to strengthen carrier partnerships.
- Relationship Management: Proven ability to build and maintain long-term relationships with carriers and internal stakeholders.
- Problem Solver with Data Analytics Experience: Ability to leverage analytics to assess carrier performance, identify placement gaps, and drive solutions.
- Strong Communication & Negotiation Skills: Comfortable presenting carrier strategies, advocating for change, and negotiating favorable outcomes.
- Highly Adaptable & Independent: Ability to navigate complex carrier dynamics, balance competing priorities, and execute initiatives effectively.
Performance Metrics:
- Growth in premium and profitability with strategic carrier partners.
- Increased/Improved Average Commission Rate by strategic carrier partners
- Number of carriers consolidated and optimization of appointments.

Reporting Structure:

Working in partnership with the Platform Leadership team, this role will report to the Trucordia VP of Carrier Relations and integrate as part of the broader Central Carrier Relations team to drive execution and growth. We are looking for a team player – someone who finds fulfillment in the overall success of the platform and Trucordia and who knows how to build a strategy and get it done.
