Supplier Quality Engineer | Walker, MI
Salary Range: $79,000 - $112,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement quality control plans for new and existing suppliers.
- Conduct supplier audits to assess compliance with quality standards and identify areas for improvement.
- Investigate and resolve supplier-related quality issues, including non-conforming materials and product defects.
- Monitor supplier performance metrics and provide feedback to drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., engineering, production) to ensure supplier quality aligns with product requirements.
- Qualify new suppliers and approve incoming materials and components.
- Manage supplier corrective action requests (SCARs) and ensure timely and effective resolution.
- Maintain supplier quality records and documentation.
Recommended Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field.
- Proven experience in supplier quality assurance, auditing, and qualification processes within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949) and relevant industry standards.
- Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and root cause analysis (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys).
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers.
- Experience with statistical software and data analysis for trend identification and performance monitoring.
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles (e.g., Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping).
- Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) software and methodologies.
- Knowledge of various manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding, stamping).
- Certification in relevant quality disciplines (e.g., ASQ CQE, Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt).
- Experience with supplier auditing and development programs.
