Job DescriptionDescriptionPosition Description:As a Detroit Academy of Arts and Sciences School Bus Aide, you will share a commitment to ensuring that every child is transported safely to and from school, home, and special events such as field trips.
Requirements:
- Must possess physical ability to perform all required work
- Satisfactory Completion of Background Check
- Prior experience working with children preferred
- Ability to work with children and maintain discipline on the bus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work up to 5 hours per day
Terms of Employment: Part time, up to 25 hours per week
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a professional relationship with supervisors, staff, families, students and the public
- Work independently and in teams to complete job duties and assignments in a timely manner
- Monitor safety of scholars while riding the bus, including taking attendance and ensuring all scholars are accounted for
- Establish and maintain positive rapport with scholars
- Communicate with parents and guardians in a professional and proactive manner
- Follow all protocols to report any incidents and accidents in a timely manner
- Handle emergencies or unforeseen situations calmly and effectively, including administering basic first aid if necessary, and following established emergency procedures
- Participate in evacuation and other safety drills
- Meet deadlines for paperwork submission
- Maintain a clean bus at all times
