Studer Community Institute (SCI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit on a mission to improve the quality of life for all people in the diverse communities we serve.

SCI’s Building Jobs department provides programs, training, and resources to develop leaders, grow organizations, create jobs and support economic development. The Building Brains program focuses on early brain development (ages 0–3), equipping and supporting parents with the tools they need to help their children succeed.

About This Role

This internship will support the Special Events Coordinator and our Directors across all SCI programs. The role includes assisting with special events, creating marketing content, and managing SCI’s social media presence. The ideal intern is creative, proactive, and ready to jump right into projects.

What Does a Day in This Role Look Like?

You will:

  • Assist the Special Events Coordinator with planning, setup, execution, and promotion of SCI events (including Light Up Learning, EntreCon, workshops, and community events).
  • Manage and create content for SCI’s social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).
  • Create short-form videos, reels and multimedia content using CapCut and Canva.
  • Be able to create flyers, graphics and logos using Canva or other software.
  • Collaborate with contracted partners on event materials and media.
  • Help ensure partner and sponsor benefits are fulfilled.
  • Support email campaigns for the Building Jobs and Building Brains programs.
  • Use excel or management tools to help track and run the media calendar.
  • Prepare and disseminate press releases to media outlets.
  • Assist with tracking event materials, attendance, and marketing analytics as needed.

Requirements

Knowledge & Technical Skills:

  • Experience with social media content creation.
  • Proficiency in CapCut, Canva, and Excel (required).
  • Comfortable using Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Constant Contact, SurveyMonkey, and other digital tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative eye for design and storytelling.

Education & Experience

  • Current student or recent graduate in marketing, communications, hospitality, public relations, education, business, or a related field.
  • Experience in content creation, events, or marketing is a plus but not required.

Position Type & Working Hours

This is an internship position. Days, hours, and duration of the role will be set based on organizational needs and established with SCI’s Executive Director. An HP laptop will be provided. Use of your personal mobile device and/or tablet is recommended.

Physical Demands

Includes sitting, walking, bending, lifting to 25 lbs., and the use of standard office equipment. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
