Job DescriptionWe are looking for a skilled Payroll Clerk to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Houston, Texas. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong background in payroll processing who excel at ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations. The selected individual will contribute to the smooth operation of payroll functions for exempt and non-exempt employees while addressing inquiries and discrepancies efficiently.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as a backup to the Payroll Manager, independently managing full-cycle payroll processes from start to finish.
• Handle voids, manual checks, and payment adjustments with precision and timeliness.
• Assist in processing commissions, bonuses, and short-term incentive payouts in alignment with company policies.
• Review weekly timecards, enter data, and verify accuracy while collaborating with supervisors to resolve discrepancies.
• Work closely with various departments to address and correct payroll discrepancies effectively.
• Manage the payroll inbox and respond promptly to employee inquiries about pay and benefits.
• Process and respond to verification of employment requests in a timely and meticulous manner.
• Develop detailed process maps and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for payroll operations.
• Perform additional payroll-related tasks as assigned to support team goals.• Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll processing, with a proven track record of handling exempt and non-exempt payroll.
• Associate degree or higher in a relevant field.
• Proficiency in UKG Pro and Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with processing payroll for 101-500 employees, including garnishments and adjustments.
• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and address inquiries professionally.
• Experience in creating process documentation and SOPs for payroll systems.
