Project Engineer

SCOPE OF WORK & OVERVIEW

The client is executing the QC Microbiology Program Building to renovate laboratories, cleanrooms, and adjacent offices, including a new AHU, modified AHU, and laboratory
equipment relocations (casework, refrigerators, freezers, incubators, fume hoods, BSCs). The Project Engineer (‘PE’) will support the client’s Project Manager (PM) across design, procurement, construction, installation, automation, commissioning, qualification (C& Q), and final turnover.

The scope of work includes but is not limited to, being lead personnel working as a Project Engineer for capital project in support of a Project Manager at the client as described herein. The detail service will be used to support project delivery teams located in the client’s facility in Branchburg.

Project Engineer must be able to act independently. They must be a self-driven engineer who can resolve barriers, manage contractors to execute work, and has strong communication and organization skills

· Availability: Fulltime, typical onsite Mon–Fri, with ability to support offshift shutdowns as preapproved.

· Safety: Meet site HSE (orientation, PPE, training records), report incidents within 24 hours.

· Toolset: Proficiency in MS Project, SharePoint/Teams, and standard commissioning forms.

· Comply with NDA; no unauthorized photos; follow client IT/cyber policy.

· Project Engineering support for a capital project to renovate laboratories, clean rooms, and offices at our Branchburg, NJ facility building.

· Maintain an integrated schedule (MS Project), weekly updates, two?week look?ahead, and critical path call?outs.

· Maintain project status updates in software throughout project lifecycle and prepare project status update presentations as needed.

· Lead project meetings including agenda development; issue agendas & minutes within 48 hours.

· Proactively identify issues impacting project schedule and budget.

· Develop options with project team, assess risk, and align on path forward. Escalate, as needed.

· Inform project controls for budget and schedule (i.e. project change management)

· Maintain logs: RFI, Submittal, Action/Decision, Risk (with mitigation owner/dates), Change, Procurement (long?leads).

· Deliverables: Weekly schedule & narrative; weekly RFI/ submittal/ action/decision/ risk/ change/ procurement logs; agendas & minutes

· Track and drive closure of RFIs, field clarifications, and design changes; ensure drawing/spec updates and as?built discipline at each trade.

· Confirm tie?in details and shutdown coordination plans for utilities (electrical, HVAC, clean utilities if applicable).

· Deliverables: RFI log; design change log; As?Built Verification Checklist; approved tie?in coordination

· Identify long?lead items with lead times

· Track RFIs between construction, design firm, and client and drive to closure.

· Monitor daily PSS/JHA, hot work/LOTO, and housekeeping

· Manage interface coordination among trades (MEP/ FP/ Controls/Arch).

· Coordinate loop checks and point?to?point completion.

· Drive the Building Management System (BMS)/Lab Monitoring System (LMS) commissioning efforts (sequence of operations

· Support commissioning and qualification execution. This includes but is not limited to: facilitating turnover package documentation from construction and installation, field verification, field coordination, commissioning testing support, etc.

· Escalate discrepancies to PM that have potential to impact project schedule or cost.

· Own formal turnover of care, custody and control from project to client.

Desired Experience

Project Engineering or Project Management background, having worked in a GMP construction environment. At least 5 years of experience. Demonstrated ability to build, maintain, and drive project schedules.
