Advanced Radiology is one of the largest independent radiology practices in the tri-state area with the most experienced radiologists. We are looking for an Ultrasound Technologist to join our team. The pay range for this role will depend on experience and qualifications.

Schedule: Mon-Thursday 7am-5:30pm with rotating Saturday's 8-12noon.


Position Summary:

Under the general direction of the manager and lead sonographer performs a variety of diagnostic sonography procedures; reviews all necessary documentation related to the procedures and performs related clinical and administrative duties within department protocols.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of diagnostic sonography procedures according to established AR protocols.
  • Assist Radiologists with special procedures such as biopsies, utilizing specialized sonographic techniques.
  • Review all necessary documentation to perform diagnostic procedures.
  • Perform preventative visual and manual inspections for each room/equipment assigned, ensuring appropriate maintenance and cleanliness according to the QA procedures.
  • Keep ultrasound machine and patient stretcher clean and dust free.
  • Perform related clinical and clerical duties associated with the patient's procedure.
  • Assist in the managing of ultrasonography procedures through the coordination of resources, to facilitate optimal efficiency. Assures that the procedures performed are in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Perform warm up procedures necessary for patient scanning.
  • Keep track of supply inventory and informs supervisor when supply is low.
  • Assume responsibility for the safety and well-being of all patients in the sonographic area/department.
  • May be asked to work with students and/or new sonographers.
  • Bring any questions, complaints or problems to the Lead Sonographer and/or Site Manager.
  • May be asked to work occasional weekends/holidays or off shift in addition to regular hours.
  • May be asked to come in early or stay late dependent upon patient or referring physician needs.
  • Assists in the procurement of all necessary supplies.
  • Informs the supervisor of any equipment needing repair to ensure prompt service.
  • Contributes to a positive climate and open communication for a team approach.
  • Maintains certification and licensure by attending continuing education classes or online courses/webinars.
  • Flexibility to work other locations and shifts as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrates commitment to excellence in patient care and exceptional customer service
  • Extensive computer background with strong application understanding, especially RIS/PACS software knowledge.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work accurately and efficiently under pressure.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to coordinate a variety of activities and efforts.

Educational Requirements:

  • ARDMS, RVT, Breast and General certification or eligible and 1-year clinical experience preferred.
  • State of Connecticut Licensure required.
  • ARRT (R) certification preferred.
  • Graduate from an Ultrasound accredited program.
  • Breast certification required within 1 year if working in a women’s imaging center.
  • RVT within 1 year if working in general ultrasound. This requirement can be modified if appropriate.

Physical demands/Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a radiology imaging outpatient department. Work may require sitting or standing for long periods of times; also stooping, bending and stretching for supplies, and files. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to palpate, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Lifting up to 30 pounds may be required. Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination sufficient to operate a keyboard and other office equipment is required. Operating knowledge of radiographic equipment is mandatory. Contact with patients, interaction with physicians, and office staff is constant.
