Position Summary

The School District is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and student-focused Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide health and personal care support to students during the school day. The CNA will work under the direction of the school nurse and/or designated healthcare professional to help ensure students’ health, safety, comfort, and ability to participate successfully in the educational environment.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care and health-related assistance to students as directed by the school nurse or supervising healthcare professional.

  • Assist students with activities of daily living, including toileting, hygiene, dressing, feeding, and mobility.

  • Support students with disabilities and/or complex health needs in accordance with their individualized care plans.

  • Monitor students and promptly report changes in health, behavior, or condition to the appropriate school personnel.

  • Assist with transfers, positioning, lifting, and mobility while following proper safety procedures.

  • Assist with medication-related tasks only as permitted by Idaho law, district policy, and appropriate training.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential student health and care records.

  • Follow student-specific healthcare plans, emergency procedures, and infection-control practices.

  • Provide respectful, compassionate, and age-appropriate support while maintaining student dignity and privacy.

  • Collaborate with school nurses, teachers, administrators, families, and other staff members.

  • Support a safe and inclusive learning environment.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in Idaho.

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Experience working with children, students with disabilities, or individuals with special healthcare needs is preferred.

  • Knowledge of basic patient care, safety, infection control, and personal hygiene practices.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

  • Strong communication, patience, dependability, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with students, families, teachers, nurses, and other school personnel.

  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including assisting students with mobility and personal care.

Work Environment

The position is based in a school setting and may involve working with students who have a variety of physical, developmental, behavioral, and medical needs. The CNA may be required to assist with personal care, lifting, positioning, and mobility throughout the school day.
