About the Role: Makai Inc. is hiring a detail-oriented Part-Time Accountant to support inventory accounting, reconciliations, payments, sales tax, purchasing activity, and fulfillment-related financial processes.
Key Focus Areas: This role goes beyond traditional accounting. You will help connect financial data with operational activity across purchasing, inventory, order fulfillment, shipping, payments, and reporting.
Team Collaboration: You will work directly with the Controller, Owner, warehouse and fulfillment staff, and another accountant in a fast-paced small-company environment.
What Youll Do
- Support inventory, purchasing, order fulfillment, and sales transaction accounting
- Reconcile inventory records, order management systems, shipping records, and general ledger balances
- Process and reconcile credit cards, ACH, PayPal, and Venmo transactions
- Prepare and maintain accurate bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Support sales tax tracking, reporting, and reconciliation
- Assist with month-end close activities
- Review purchasing activity and vendor transactions
- Work with warehouse and fulfillment teams to resolve discrepancies
- Identify practical ways to improve accounting and operations workflows
- Contribute to special projects and process improvement initiatives
What Were Looking For
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- 5+ years of accounting experience, including inventory or operational accounting
- Recent experience with inventory accounting, purchasing, fulfillment, and reconciliations across multiple systems
- Comfort working in a warehouse or operations-focused environment
- Strong QuickBooks Enterprise Online experience preferred
- Experience reconciling credit cards, ACH, PayPal, and Venmo
- Sales tax experience
- Advanced Excel skills
