Job Title: Manufacturing Process Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer to support plant operations by improving manufacturing processes, optimizing equipment performance, and driving safety, quality, and production efficiency. You will work closely with production, maintenance, suppliers, and cross-functional internal teams to troubleshoot issues, implement process improvements, and support day-to-day operations within a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Propose, evaluate, and implement improvements to manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Support plant goals related to safety, quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost by identifying and executing process improvements.
  • Coordinate the effective use of personnel, materials, and equipment to meet production requirements and support daily operations.
  • Analyze tooling, equipment, and process concerns to determine root causes and define appropriate corrective actions.
  • Provide technical support and training to plant operations teams to ensure proper use of equipment, adherence to processes, and consistent quality.
  • Partner closely with production, maintenance, and supplier teams to ensure projects and process changes are completed on time and to specification.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing defects, improving efficiency, and maintaining strong quality standards.
  • Assist with maintaining compliance with plant safety, environmental, and quality standards and procedures.
  • Support robotics and automation systems, including Fanuc robotics, to ensure reliable and efficient operation.
  • Help oversee day-to-day technical needs within the assigned manufacturing area, acting as a key technical resource on the floor.
  • Provide guidance and support to a small team of employees when needed, helping to prioritize work and resolve technical issues.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, external suppliers, and business partners to align on priorities, share updates, and resolve issues.
  • Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and production performance.

Essential Skills

  • Technical experience in process engineering or manufacturing engineering.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, and plant operations.
  • Experience working with Fanuc robotics and automation systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment, tooling, and process-related issues effectively.
  • Strong safety and quality mindset with a commitment to maintaining high standards.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Engineering degree is preferred, but not required.
  • At least 1 year of automotive manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Experience with pretreatment, chemistry, or chemical application processes is preferred.
  • Leadership experience or the ability to support and guide a small team is preferred.

Work Environment

This role is fully onsite in a hands-on, fast-paced, plant-based environment within the Paint Department of a large assembly facility. You will work closely with production, maintenance, robotics, pretreatment, and chemistry-related processes, with responsibilities tied closely to safety, quality, and production performance. The position requires flexibility to work across all three shifts. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, with weekend work and overtime expected based on business needs. Once fully trained, the schedule may transition from 8-hour shifts to 12-hour shifts, such as 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. This is a 52-week contract assignment with no remote option and no travel required. The environment is dynamic, with changing weekly priorities, and requires comfort working on the plant floor around production equipment, robotics, and chemical/pretreatment operations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wentzville, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
