Job Description

This role programs, sets up, and operates CNC milling machines and CNC lathes to produce precision components and special fittings. The position requires strong machining expertise, the ability to interpret technical drawings, and proficiency in measuring and verifying parts to meet exact specifications in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Program CNC milling machines and CNC lathes using the applicable programming language.
  • Set up CNC milling machines and CNC lathes for production runs and special fittings.
  • Operate CNC milling machines and CNC lathes to produce parts ranging from 1/4 inch to 6 inches in diameter.
  • Set up, operate, check, and troubleshoot mills, lathes, grinders, computer-numerical-controlled lathes and mills, vertical and horizontal saws, and i.d./o.d. deburring equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, production drawings, and assembly drawings to determine machining requirements.
  • Use shop math and precision measuring tools to verify that products conform to drawing and blueprint dimensions.
  • Inspect parts during and after machining to ensure quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust setups or programs to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Follow verbal instructions and written procedures accurately to complete assigned work.
  • Collaborate with a small team in the CNC shop area to meet production goals and maintain workflow.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in both clean room and production floor settings, following applicable safety practices.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of diversified machining and fabrication experience.
  • Proven ability to program CNC milling machines and CNC lathes.
  • Strong experience in CNC set-up and machining operations.
  • Certificate of successful completion of programming school specific to the applicable programming language (EIA, Mazatrol).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, production drawings, and assembly drawings.
  • Ability to measure products accurately using shop math and precision measuring tools to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Ability to set up, operate, check, and troubleshoot mills, lathes, grinders, CNC lathes and mills, vertical and horizontal saws, and i.d./o.d. deburring equipment.
  • Ability to produce 1/4 inch through 6 inch diameter production and special fittings.
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions and read, write, and speak English.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Experience working with both production and special fitting runs.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for a variety of machining equipment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precise components.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a small team in a busy shop environment.

Work Environment

The role is based in a manufacturing facility that includes two ultra clean room areas and a general production floor. The shop has a noticeable but not overpowering chemical smell and can be loud due to running equipment. Temperature on the production floor can vary with the weather and may be quite hot or cold at times. You will work closely with a small team in the CNC shop area, operating and moving between various machines and equipment in an active, industrial setting.

This is a Contract position based out of Ventura, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.50 - $26.12/hr.
