The Dental Assistant is a clinical team member employed as a W-2 employee responsible for supporting dentists and hygienists in the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered dental care. This role combines clinical assistance, patient education, and operational support to ensure efficient workflow, patient comfort, and adherence to professional and regulatory standards within Maxion Management & Affiliates.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials prior to patient appointments
  • Assist dentists during clinical procedures, including chairside support and four-handed dentistry
  • Take and process dental radiographs in accordance with safety guidelines
  • Prepare and manage dental materials, impressions, lab cases and trays as required
  • Provide patient education on treatment procedures, post-operative instructions, and oral hygiene practices
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the dental software system
  • Ensure proper infection control, sterilization, and operatory turnover in compliance with OSHA and CDC guidelines
  • Monitor patient comfort during procedures and communicate patient needs to the clinical team
  • Support efficient patient flow by coordinating with front desk and hygiene teams
  • Maintain inventory of clinical supplies and notify management of shortages
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and continuing education as required
  • Adhere to all HIPAA, privacy, and confidentiality requirements

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Active Dental Assistant registration or certification as required by the state of Florida
  • Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) certification preferred
  • Current BLS/CPR certification preferred
  • Prior experience in a dental practice preferred
  • Strong understanding of dental procedures, instruments, and infection control protocols
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient care skills
  • Professional appearance and demeanor

  • Proficiency with dental practice management and imaging software preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and move throughout the workday
  • Manual dexterity for handling dental instruments and materials
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Visual acuity sufficient for detailed clinical tasks

Florida Compliance & Professional Standards

  • Must comply with all applicable Florida laws, rules, and professional standards governing dental assisting practice
  • Must practice strictly within scope of training, certification, and licensure
  • Must maintain all required certifications, registrations, and continuing education
  • Must follow all Maxion Management & Affiliates policies, procedures, clinical protocols, and standards of conduct
