Job Description

Job DescriptionBehavior Technician (BT): PT Flexible Evening and Weekend Shifts

Empower Learning Inc. is a small, center based EIDBI and ABA therapy provider in Eagan, MN. Our team works closely together to provide ethical, compassionate, and effective ABA services while maintaining client dignity, safety, professionalism, and compliance with Minnesota DHS and Medicaid expectations. Alongside center based therapy, we run daily community outings to help clients practice and generalize skills in real world settings.

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Behavior Technician to join our team. Behavior Technicians play an extremely important role in our clients' daily lives. This position involves active teaching, behavior support, supervision, communication, data collection, and assisting with client care needs throughout the session. The ideal candidate has a passion for working with individuals with autism and developmental disabilities and implements behavior intervention plans (BIPs) designed by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) to help clients build essential life skills, improve social interactions, and reduce challenging behaviors.

You are never expected to know everything right away. Questions are always encouraged, and supervisors, BCBAs, peer mentors, and experienced staff are available to help. We strongly value communication, teamwork, and a willingness to learn and ask for help when unsure.

Professional Development
This role is a strong fit for students and professionals who want to grow in the field. We work closely with speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, psychologists, mental health professionals, case workers, and school social workers, which gives our team a firsthand look at the different supports and resources available to our clients. We also offer supervision and internship placements. The majority of our staff are current students or graduates with bachelor's or master's degrees, all at different stages of their careers. If you are exploring where your career could go, this is a great environment to learn, ask questions, and see how it all comes together.

Responsibilities

  • Run sessions independently by following each client's schedule, routines, and programming
  • Review client programming and prepare materials before sessions so teaching begins without delay
  • Implement behavior intervention plans and prompting and error correction procedures as written, fading prompts quickly to build independence
  • Provide frequent teaching opportunities naturally throughout activities, routines, and scheduled group activities
  • Collect data in real time on clinic iPads and complete session notes, documentation, and daily take home sheets before leaving for the day
  • Maintain line of sight supervision and stay actively engaged with clients at all times
  • Respond to challenging behavior with a neutral tone, professionalism, and planned procedures, and intervene immediately when client safety is at risk
  • Support client care needs throughout the session, including meals and snacks, hydration, restroom routines, diaper changes, and hygiene, while maintaining client dignity
  • Track start times, end times, breaks, and nonbillable time accurately and in real time in accordance with DHS billing guidelines
  • Communicate updates, concerns, illness, or significant behavior changes to supervisors promptly, and communicate professionally with families and coworkers
  • Keep therapy areas clean and organized, return shared materials to their designated areas, and check cubbies and belongings before dismissal
  • Participate in planned, BCBA approved community outings in group settings, actively supervising and running programming toward clinical goals

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree completed or in progress, preferably in psychology, social work, education, human services, or a related field
  • Experience working with children or individuals with autism or developmental disabilities is preferred
  • Familiarity with applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles
  • Comfortable assisting with personal care tasks such as feeding, restroom routines, and diaper changes
  • Patience, empathy, and a calm, professional approach to challenging behavior
  • Strong communication skills and openness to supervision and feedback
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
