Manufacturing Quality Systems Engineer
Job Description
Job Description
Step into a role where your decisions shape product quality, elevate processes, and strengthen supplier partnerships. Holland Sharpe is hiring a Manufacturing Quality Systems Engineer to guide plant-wide quality strategy and daily execution while mentoring a high-performing lab team.
Day in the life
Morning starts with a scan of SPC dashboards and overnight test logs. You’ll walk the lab, align with quality technicians on priorities, and review corrective actions in motion. By mid-morning, you’re on a supplier call about an incoming material trend, then into a cross-functional huddle to fine-tune receiving and unloading procedures. Your afternoon focuses on root-cause work for a customer complaint, closing the loop with documented CAPAs, and coaching the team through improvements that boost consistency, capability, and throughput—without compromising safety or cost targets.
What you’ll lead
- Own the quality management system: design, implement, and monitor controls for both incoming materials and finished goods.
- Use SPC and data analytics to drive product uniformity, process capability, and overall quality performance.
- Champion a proactive quality culture through structured root cause analysis, preventive/corrective actions, and continuous improvement.
- Serve as the go-to contact for customers and suppliers on quality matters; ensure timely, professional resolution of issues.
- Investigate customer complaints and implement sustainable CAPAs that prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate in technical reviews and working sessions with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to advance process and quality objectives.
- Manage the quality laboratory: testing protocols, documentation, calibration/maintenance, software systems, and supervision of quality technicians.
- Plan and conduct supplier assessments and audits to validate material quality, process capability, and compliance to standards.
- Direct receiving and unloading of raw materials, including process oversight, documentation accuracy, and supervision of personnel handling materials.
- Partner with logistics and operations to streamline material receiving and unloading for reliability and speed.
- Oversee raw material inventory, chemical storage, and blending operations—balancing production needs with safety and quality.
Impact and scope
Your work directly supports plant objectives in safety, quality, productivity, and cost, elevating performance across the operation.
