An acute pediatric psychiatric nursing opportunity awaits experienced Registered Nurses ready to provide compassionate, specialized care within a dynamic behavioral health environment. This 13-week contract requires dedication to night shifts (7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.) working three 12-hour shifts per week, serving a patient ratio of 1:12. This role demands nurses with a minimum of two years experience and specific exposure to managing behavioral health patients, particularly children and adolescents.
Key Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid RN licensure with two years of nursing experience in behavioral health settings
- Experience working with pediatric populations including acute inpatient psychiatric care
- Required certifications: BLS, MANDT patient restraint (training provided if not held), Trauma-Informed Care, and Zero Suicide training
- Strong knowledge of medication administration routes (PO, IM, IV, SC, etc.) and de-escalation techniques
- Skilled in managing complex psychiatric conditions including anxiety, bipolar, depressive, psychotic disorders, and substance use
- Familiarity with legal protocols including seclusion and involuntary commitments
- Missouri Childrens Division background check clearance (MoVechs process mandatory)
Responsibilities:
- Cooperate with multi-disciplinary teams to implement individualized care plans
- Oversee medication administration and monitor patients' psychiatric and physical statuses
- Employ behavior management and crisis intervention strategies in a locked unit setting
- Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC electronic health records
- Ensure safety protocols and therapeutic measures are in place for patients with severe intellectual disabilities or profound impulse control issues
