Job DescriptionCNC Turning Setup Specialist (Fanuc G/M Code)

Location: Minneapolis, MN
Pay Rate: $25–$40 per hour
Schedule: 1st Shift — 6:45 AM–4:00 PM (Mon–Thu), 6:45 AM–12:00 PM (Fri)

A day in the life

Your day begins at 6:45 AM, powering up a Fanuc-controlled lathe and walking the setup from raw stock to first-article approval. You’ll call up and edit programs, dial in tooling and offsets, verify workholding, and confirm the NC code behaves as expected. Throughout the shift, you’ll read prints, measure features, and adjust to keep parts in spec. When a program hiccups or a tool path underperforms, you dig in—troubleshooting quickly to keep production moving.

Between runs, you’ll capture what works with clear setup sheets, collaborate with engineering and fellow machinists to launch new parts, and support teams across the shop with your turning expertise.

  • Diagnose and correct programming or machining issues to protect quality and throughput
