Orientation: Every Monday
Shift & Weekly Hours
- Shift Options:
- Days: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Nights: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Typical Weekly Hours: 36 hours per week (3 shifts/week)
Weekend Requirement
- Minimum 3 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule
- Weekend distribution is flexible as long as coverage is met.
Call Requirement
- 1 on-call shift per 4-week schedule
Floating
- May float to:
- Emergency Department (ED)
- Med-Surg unit
(if experienced)
Unit Details
- 7 L&D beds
- 2 Triage beds
- 10 Postpartum beds
- 1–3 births per day
- ~830 births per year
Patient Ratio:
- Typically 1:2
Required Certifications
- BLS
- ACLS
- NRP
- Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring
Experience Requirements
- Minimum: 2–3 years L&D experience
- Must Have:
- C-Section experience
- Strong fetal monitoring interpretation
- Experience managing high-risk pregnancies
- Experience treating pre-eclampsia
Unit Support
- Respiratory Therapist 24/7
- OB Scrub Tech
- Patient Care Technician
- Health Unit Secretary
- Pharmacy 24/7
- Nurse Manager assists with patients when needed
