The Wilkes University Department of Integrative Media Art + Design seeks highly qualified applicants for a non-tenure track Faculty of Practice in Art, pending available funding, to begin in Fall of 2026.

The IMAD department offers both BA and BFA degrees in Digital Design and Media Art. Our interdisciplinary curricula blend visual design and technology as core study with the requirement to declare one or more minors in related fields of art, communication, computer science, English, business, theatre, or game and emergent technology. The majority of our students graduate with aspirations to work in commercial fields (i.e. graphic design, motion graphics, photography, game development, arts administration).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MFA or terminal degree in Studio Art or a related field.
  • Experience teaching undergraduate art/design courses.
  • Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education and student success.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engages in a creative practice that bridges traditional studio disciplines (such as drawing, painting, and/or printmaking) with commercial digital illustration.
  • Flexibility to teach multiple topic areas in a small, academically diverse, close-knit team environment.
  • Familiar with the Adobe Creative Suite, 2D/3D software, and emerging technologies.
  • Ability to advise and students in academic planning, career exploration, and personal growth on a campus with a strong mentoring philosophy.
  • Works effectively in team settings with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Skilled in delivering engaging lectures and labs, managing classrooms, and using educational technologies effectively providing a positive learning environment that supports the needs of diverse students.
  • Industry experience a plus.

Faculty of Practice carry a 24-credit teaching load per academic year. Appointments are made on a 9-month basis and are renewed annually. Faculty of Practice are afforded all privileges of other full-time faculty, including rights to vote and participate in faculty governance and the protection of academic freedom. In addition to teaching, faculty are expected to participate in service activities at the department, college, and university levels, and will also be responsible for advising and mentoring undergraduate students.
