Position Overview
The Optician is responsible for delivering an exceptional patient experience by assisting with frame selection, educating patients on lens options, and ensuring accurate dispensing of eyewear. This role combines technical optical knowledge with a strong customer service focus in a collaborative, patient-centered setting.
Key Responsibilities
Optical & Patient Care
- Assist patients in selecting frames that fit their style, prescription, and lifestyle needs
- Educate patients on lens options, coatings, and optical technologies
- Accurately measure, fit, and dispense eyeglasses
- Support contact lens training and provide basic guidance as needed
Sales & Customer Experience
- Deliver a high level of customer service with a personalized, consultative approach
- Build strong relationships with patients to foster long-term loyalty
- Handle patient inquiries and resolve concerns in a professional, solution-oriented manner
Administrative & Operational Support
- Utilize computer systems for order entry, billing, and insurance processing
- Maintain organized and accurate patient and order records
- Support overall office operations and collaborate with team members to ensure smooth workflow
Qualifications
- Prior experience in an optical setting required
- Basic optical knowledge, including frames and lens options
- Familiarity with contact lenses and dispensing processes
- Comfortable with computer systems and online insurance billing
