Hi All,

We currently have an urgent requirement for 5 Emergency Room Registered Nurses (ER RNs) at Northern Navajo Medical Center (Indian Health Service) in Shiprock, NM.

Position Details:

  • Job Title: Emergency Department Registered Nurse
  • Specialty: Emergency / Trauma Nursing
  • Facility: Northern Navajo Medical Center – IHS
  • Location: Shiprock, NM 87420
  • Start Date: January 2026
  • Contract Duration: Base period of 6 months with four additional 6-month option periods

Shift & Schedule:

  • Shift Timing: 0700 – 1900
  • Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Shift Lengths: 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts as scheduled by the facility
  • Includes: Weekends and holidays

Licensure & Certifications:

  • Active, unrestricted RN license from any U.S. state, DC, Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory
  • Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
  • Preferred Certifications: ATCN or TNCC, NLS

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 36 months of nursing experience
  • At least 2 years of Emergency or Trauma nursing experience

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in IV therapy and venipuncture
  • Strong skills in medication administration and emergency triage
  • Knowledge of EMTALA and HIPAA compliance
  • Competency in restraint application and pain management protocols
  • Excellent patient assessment and communication skills

Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care, including triage, assessment, and treatment of patients across all age groups. Administer medications, monitor vital signs, assist with emergency interventions, and collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care. Maintain accurate documentation while adhering to NNMC and IHS standards, patient safety, and confidentiality requirements.
