Position Overview
The Director of Manufacturing is responsible for leading day-to-day production operations at the Holland facility, ensuring that multiple custom boat builds progress efficiently, safely, and on schedule.
Working closely with the EVP Production & Master Boat Builder, this role focuses on production coordination, operational discipline, and team leadership across the shop floor. The Director of Manufacturing ensures that production teams remain aligned, resources are properly allocated, and builds move smoothly through each stage of construction.
This role strengthens operational execution while supporting the manufacturing standards and technical direction established by the EVP Production & Master Boat Builder.
Key Responsibilities
Production Operations Leadership
- Support the EVP Production & Master Boat Builder in managing day-to-day operations across multiple custom boat projects.
- Coordinate schedules, resources, and priorities to maintain production efficiency and meet project deadlines.
- Ensure production activities across hull fabrication, deck construction, modules, and final assembly remain coordinated and aligned.
- Identify and resolve production bottlenecks and workflow challenges.
- Maintain production momentum across simultaneous builds.
Shop Floor Leadership
- Provide clear direction and operational leadership to production teams.
- Reinforce a collaborative, high-performance culture on the shop floor.
- Support Production Leads and crew leadership in coordinating daily production activities.
- Ensure teams remain focused on quality, safety, and schedule commitments.
Production Planning & Coordination
- Develop and maintain production schedules across active projects.
- Coordinate labor allocation across production teams.
- Monitor production progress and adjust resources as necessary.
- Maintain clear visibility into build status across programs.
Quality & Build Oversight
- Monitor quality across all stages of construction to ensure adherence to company standards and customer expectations.
- Ensure production teams follow established manufacturing processes and standards.
- Escalate technical challenges to the EVP Production & Master Boat Builder when structural or composite expertise is required.
- Work closely with technical leadership to ensure builds are executed according to approved manufacturing approaches.
Vendor & Material Coordination
- Coordinate with procurement and purchasing to ensure timely delivery of materials and components.
- Track inventory needs and communicates production material requirements.
- Assist with maintaining strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
Communication & Reporting
- Maintain clear communication between production teams and executive leadership.
- Provide regular updates on project status, staffing needs, and operational challenges.
- Participate in production planning meetings and leadership discussions.
- Support process improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.
Qualifications
Manufacturing Leadership Experience
- Significant experience managing production or manufacturing operations.
- Experience coordinating multiple simultaneous projects or builds.
- Strong operational planning and production management capability.
