Job Description

This role involves transforming raw wood materials into a wide range of finished products, including items such as newel posts and floating shelves. You will work on both high-volume production runs and one-of-a-kind pieces, using a variety of woodworking tools and techniques to produce accurate, high-quality components and assemblies.

Responsibilities

  • Take raw wood materials and convert them into finished products such as newel posts, floating shelves, and other custom items.
  • Read measurements accurately and use a tape measure to mark and cut wood to precise dimensions.
  • Operate woodworking equipment including miter saws, planers, routers, and table saws to cut and shape wood components.
  • Perform sanding and finishing tasks to ensure smooth surfaces and clean edges on all parts.
  • Hand assemble wood components into complete products, ensuring proper fit, alignment, and structural integrity.
  • Use a variety of hand tools to build, adjust, and refine products during and after assembly.
  • Support both long production runs (up to 10,000 pieces) and one-off custom builds, adapting to different project requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety, efficiency, and high-quality output.
  • Inspect finished pieces for quality and accuracy, making adjustments or rework as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in using a tape measure and working with precise measurements.
  • Ability to cut wood accurately using miter saws, planers, routers, and table saws.
  • Hands-on experience with sanding and basic finishing of wood components.
  • Skill in hand assembly of wood products, including the use of common hand tools.
  • Capability to work effectively on both high-volume production runs and one-off projects.
  • Comfort working in a woodshop environment with production equipment and tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience as a woodworker or in a wood production environment is highly beneficial.
  • Background in production work involving repetitive tasks and long runs of parts.
  • Ability to handle multiple types of woodworking tools safely and efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finished products.

Work Environment

You will work in a dedicated woodshop environment that is equipped with production woodworking tools such as miter saws, planers, routers, and table saws. The setting is hands-on and production-focused, involving regular use of hand tools, sanding equipment, and assembly stations. Hours are flexible, with the shop opening at 6:30 a.m. and options to start later in the morning, and scheduling can be arranged as either four 10-hour days or five 8-hour days.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brooten, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
