FT BUILDING INSPECTOR / CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER
Milford, the hub of the Souhegan Valley, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to fill the position of Full-Time Building Inspector/Code Enforcement Officer. This position is responsible for the administration and enforcement of local, state, and national codes and regulations relative to residential and commercial building and land development in a growing community.
Candidates shall have strong oral and written communication skills, computer skills, solid experience working with building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing trades, a thorough knowledge in reading and interpreting construction drawings, site plans, and other related documents. Successful candidate must have excellent recordkeeping, organizational, written, and interpersonal skills, demonstrate a strong customer service approach to problem solving, and have the ability to handle multiple tasks in a busy work environment. The Town currently uses PermitEyes software.
Qualified individuals will have a BS degree in Engineering or Architecture preferred or at least four years of experience in professional construction, architectural, or inspection work; or equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must have a working knowledge of ICC & NFPA codes and NH Statutes and Administrative rules, as well as local ordinances and regulations. Affiliation and participation in professional groups (NHBOA) are highly desirable.
