Position Overview
The Claims Associate will support the claims and litigation management process, ensuring timely and accurate handling of claims across multiple insurance lines. This role will collaborate closely with the Director of Claim Management, internal teams, and external partners to maintain compliance and streamline claim workflows. The position also involves developing expertise in risk management systems and reporting. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
- Provide timely notification to insurers of new claims to ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
- Ensure all claims are processed in accordance with company policies and industry standards; assist in preparing and submitting periodic status reports.
- Act as a liaison between project teams, subcontractors, legal teams, insurance providers, and Third-Party Administrators to facilitate communication and resolution.
- Manage discovery documentation requests from counsel and assist in litigation management, including lien activity.
- Maintain accurate and organized claim files, including correspondence, reports, and contracts, ensuring accessibility and completeness.
- Gather, diary, and follow up on documentation for lien discharge submissions and coordinate with payroll for Workers Compensation data submissions.
- Maintain schedules for quarterly financial closings and post-close meetings.
- Develop into a “super-user” of Origami Risk Software (RMIS), ensuring quality control of data feeds and preparing monthly management reports.
Required Experience/Skills
- Prior experience in claims management or related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred Experience/Skills
- Familiarity with insurance lines such as Workers Compensation, General Liability, and Professional Liability.
- Experience with litigation support and document management.
- Knowledge of lien processes and financial reporting related to claims.
- Exposure to risk management information systems (RMIS), preferably Origami Risk.
- Ability to analyze data and prepare management-level reports.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Continuing education in claims or insurance-related certifications is a plus.
