Join a prominent academic medical center in Winston-Salem, NC, as an experienced MedSurg RN specializing in telemetry care. This opportunity offers a highly supportive environment in a 20-bed unit within a Level 1 Trauma Center and a teaching hospital setting. The ideal candidate has at least two years of MedSurg experience and is proficient in managing complex medical patients with conditions such as CHF, COPD, renal, hepatic, and respiratory issues, as well as patients requiring CIWA protocols, wound care, and cardiac rhythm interpretation.
Key Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum 2 years MedSurg experience with telemetry skills
- Licensed RN with BLS and ACLS certifications
- Competency with trachs, chest tubes, IV starts, wound vacs, drains, and dressing changes
- Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms and perform central line blood draws
- Experience with non-titrating drips (Heparin, Lasix, Protonix required; Cardizem and Amiodarone preferred)
- Comfortable using EPIC EMR and Alaris IV pumps
- Ability to float within scope of practice at the hospital
Responsibilities:
- Care for a variety of medical and occasional surgical patients on a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Collaborate with CNAs, charge nurses, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and residents available 24/7
- Monitor telemetry and respond to patient needs effectively during night shifts (18300700)
- Participate in weekend rotations every other weekend and holiday coverage per contract
Schedule and Contract Details:
- Contract position with flexible scheduling (6-week increments)
- Weekend rotation every other weekend; 50% holiday coverage expected
- No mandatory on-call; approved return-to-office requests allowed
