Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary mental health team. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including patient history, mental status examinations, and diagnostic assessments using clinical knowledge and EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that may include medication management, psychotherapy, and behavioral health interventions.
- Administer medications with expertise in psychopharmacology, ensuring proper dosage, monitoring for side effects, and adjusting treatments as necessary.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care across inpatient, outpatient, telehealth, and community-based settings.
- Provide patient education on mental health conditions, medication adherence, lifestyle modifications, and coping strategies to support recovery and wellness.
- Document all clinical encounters accurately in medical records while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives such as utilization review and adherence to NCQA standards to optimize patient outcomes.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Nurse Practitioner specializing in psychiatry or behavioral health with a strong background in clinical research or hospital medicine preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; telehealth experience is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of psychopharmacology including CPT coding for billing purposes; experience administering injections or IV infusions is a plus.
- Familiarity with diverse clinical environments such as inpatient units (including ICU or PICU), outpatient clinics, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or hospice & palliative medicine settings.
- Experience working with special populations specifically dual diagnosis adults, with a strong SUD presence
