Job Title: Quality Inspector

Job Description

The Quality Inspector performs detailed visual and dimensional inspections of electronic assemblies and printed circuit boards to ensure they meet established quality standards and specifications. This role independently evaluates incoming, in-process, and finished materials, records inspection results, rejects nonconforming product, and operates automated optical inspection (AOI) or similar devices. The position also supports issue resolution and follows documented procedures and action plans when non-conformances are identified.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform visual inspection and measurements of electronic assemblies, printed circuit boards, and related materials to verify conformance to specifications and quality standards.
  • Assess compliance with technical drawings, blueprints, and documented requirements, and make accept/reject decisions based on defined criteria.
  • Record accurate and detailed inspection data, including measurements, observations, and defect information, in the appropriate systems or documentation.
  • Identify, document, and reject nonconforming materials or products in accordance with established procedures.
  • Operate automated optical inspection (AOI) equipment or equivalent inspection devices to perform more technical visual inspections.
  • Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) during all inspection and documentation activities.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to support issue resolution and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Follow defined action plans when a non-conformance is detected, including proper documentation, segregation of product, and communication to relevant stakeholders.
  • Utilize the Stop, Call, Wait, and Escalate process to report and escalate recurring defects or quality concerns to supervisors in a timely manner.
  • Participate in Tier meetings and other team or quality meetings as needed to discuss performance, issues, and improvement opportunities.
  • Use calipers, micrometers, and other measurement tools to verify critical dimensions and tolerances.
  • Apply IPC-A-610 or related standards (such as IPC-A-600) to determine acceptance or rejection of electronic assemblies.
  • Perform hand soldering tasks in accordance with J-STD and IPC 7711 rework standards when required for inspection-related activities.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all facility and ESD (electrostatic discharge) control requirements.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support production and quality objectives.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of working experience in electronics manufacturing.
  • Hands-on experience with quality inspection in an electronics or printed circuit board manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to perform detailed visual inspections of electronic assemblies and printed circuit boards.
  • Proficiency using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Intermediate computer skills for entering inspection data and using basic software tools.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and manufacturing operations.
  • Experience in an Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) environment or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 (inspection acceptance) or applicable standards such as IPC-A-600.
  • Hand soldering skills in accordance with J-STD requirements.
  • Experience with IPC 7711 rework standards.
  • Experience operating Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) or equivalent inspection devices.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to consistently apply inspection criteria.
  • Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and documented work instructions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a clean electronics manufacturing facility.
  • Experience in manufacturing environments involving assemblies and subassemblies.
  • Familiarity with defect escalation processes such as Stop, Call, Wait, and Escalate.
  • Comfort working both independently and collaboratively with production and quality teams.
  • Strong communication skills to clearly document findings and support issue resolution.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and obtaining additional certifications related to quality and electronics manufacturing.

Work Environment

This role is based in a clean electronics manufacturing facility focused on assembly and inspection of printed circuit boards and related products. Employees work at individual workstations where they complete their portion of the assemblies and perform detailed inspections using tools such as calipers, micrometers, and AOI equipment. While on the production floor, employees wear a smock and shoe straps to meet facility and electrostatic discharge (ESD) control requirements. The standard work schedule runs Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., providing a structured, four-day workweek in a professional, process-driven production environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Meridian, ID.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
