Located in Waco, TX
Salary: $18/hr.
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Welder with proven skills in wire welding processes, layout, and fabrication. The ideal candidate will be able to read blueprints, interpret weld symbols, and operate welding machinery safely and effectively. Candidates must be able to weld in all positions and pass a 6G pipe test on a 2 7/8' coupon.
Key Responsibilities:
- Weld components using manual and semi-automatic welding equipment (GMAW, FCAW, SAW).
- Follow and enforce strict safety regulations including the use of PPE (safety glasses, gloves, masks, and safety shoes).
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, weld symbols, and detailed measurements for layout planning.
- Perform welding in all positions: 2G, 3G, 5G, and 6G.
- Conduct visual inspections and correct welds with minimal supervision.
- Operate specialized and standard tools, including grinders, drill presses, hammers, and metal workers.
- Setup and monitor welding machines per approved WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications).
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Operate overhead cranes and other material handling equipment.
- Perform welding with pulsed MIG, and ensure all work meets quality assurance standards.
Testing Requirements:
Candidates must pass a 6G pipe welding test on a 2 7/8' diameter super coupon:
- Open root with max 1/8' gap.
- Use GMAW-S (downhill) for root, feathered for hot pass with FCAW.
- FCAW 1/16' wire used from hot pass to cap in 6G uphill position.
- Final cap must be completed with stringer beads (no weaving), with controlled oscillation.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years experience in industrial welding and fabrication.
- Must be able to read blueprints and perform layout and fit-up of vessels and piping components.
- Ability to weld using GMAW (MIG), FCAW (Flux Core), and SAW (Submerged Arc).
- Must have pulsed MIG experience.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment.
- Must pass a drug test and background check.
Additional Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of welding techniques and WPS parameters.
- Ability to monitor machine temperatures and usage for safety and quality.
- Skilled in identifying and correcting welding flaws or discontinuities.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Must be safety-oriented and reliable in a fast-paced team environment.
