Job DescriptionSeasonal Gig Work | $32–$100 Per Property | Flexible Schedule | 1099 Contractor

ABOUT SHOVELINGFoot Soldiers is hiring Snow Shovelers for the 2024–2025 winter season (October 1 – March 31). Contractors clear snow from townhouses, businesses, and vehicles in central Brooklyn using their own tools and our app to accept jobs (we already have).

  • Pay: $32–$100 per property (plus 100% of tips)
  • Earnings: Many shovelers make $300+ per storm event (4–8 properties typical)
  • Schedule: You decide when to opt in before each storm
  • Location: Jobs are assigned close to where you live/choose

This is a great seasonal fit for rideshare drivers, paraprofessionals, students, contractors, or Brooklyn residentslooking for extra income.

PAYMENT DETAILS

  • Earn 40% of property revenue (based on property size, snowfall amount, and time of day)
  • Eligible for 50% share on night jobs (8 p.m.–6 a.m.) or federal holidays
  • Receive 100% of electronic tips from customers

CLIENT EXPECTATIONS
Shovelers must:

  • Use plastic shovels (no metal shovels)
  • Pre-treat properties with calcium chloride
  • Finish jobs within 5 hours after snowfall ends
  • Clear 75% of sidewalks and 100% of stairways
  • Create a path to front gate and trash area
  • Evenly distribute calcium chloride after shoveling

CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS

  • 18+ years old with valid government-issued ID
  • TIN, EIN, or SS# required to contract
  • Smartphone with internet (able to run mobile apps)
  • Proof of residency in city/state/province
  • Must provide own equipment: plastic shovel(s), calcium chloride, metal ice chopper, cold-weather gear
  • Physically able to lift up to 75 lbs unassisted, bend, stand, walk, and climb in frigid conditions
