Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring strong cardiac and post-op experience, with night shift availability and telemetry skills.
Details
- PCU at a large academic hospital system serving post-cardiac and post-vascular surgery patients
- Patient ratios of 1:3–5 based on acuity
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Every other weekend required; consecutive weekends may be needed based on operational needs
- Travelers may be asked to serve as charge nurse with training and resources provided
- Float required to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) within the hospital or to an affiliate hospital nearby — refusal to float may result in contract termination
- Cerner EMR — experience required
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active IN or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or RQI accepted)
- Minimum 18 months to 2 years of RN experience required
- Strong cardiac and post-op surgical nursing experience required
- Level I or Level II Trauma experience required
- Telemetry, IV insertion, and cardiac drip titration skills required
- Cerner charting experience required
- Nursing degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited program at time of graduation
- COVID vaccination required; medical or religious exemptions accepted with supporting documentation
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are not accepted for this position
- Former permanent or PRN employees of the health system must have been separated for at least 12 months before being considered as a traveler
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Up to 5 days of RTO can be auto-approved
- Indiana-licensed RNs are not permitted at this facility's MS, MS Tele, PCU, ICU, or ER units — a Compact license from another state satisfies the eligibility requirement for IN-based candidates
