This job is a 1099 contract position. Full and Part time candidates with an active Florida Department of Health Occupational Therapy License are encouraged to apply.
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic pediatric therapy team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with occupational therapist assistants and speech therapists to deliver family centered client care in a pediatric outpatient clinic setting. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families.
Responsibilities
- Assess a client's development and implement intervention strategies to help the client reach their next milestones.
- Work with each client to enhance readiness and ability to complete age-appropriate Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
- Work with individuals with autism and developmental disabilities to promote functional skills and enhance abilities in home, school, community, and vocational settings.
- Provide hands-on therapeutic interventions to ensure safety and engagement during treatment sessions.
- Educate caregivers on the ages and stages of development and provide activity recommendations for the carryover of acquired skills.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members for enhanced client outcomes.
- Provide therapy services in a clinic setting.
- Utilize your knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology to inform treatment.
- Accurately document progress in the electronic health record and adjust care plans as necessary to ensure a pattern of positive progress.
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to infection control protocols and safety standards during all patient interactions.
- Supervise the work of up to two occupational therapy assistants
Skills
- Experience with play-based and child led intervention methods in a pediatric clinic setting
- Experience using standardized assessment and criterion referenced assessment methods
- Experience using sensory integration techniques to promote organization
- Familiarity with speech therapy techniques as they relate to occupational therapy practices
- Ability to create effective care plans based on individual patient assessments.
- Excellent communication skills for educating caregivers and collaborating with healthcare teams.
