DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Be to work on time daily, with sufficient time to receive information from previous Supervisor and plan ahead for current shift
· Provide leadership to the shift, representing company goals and objectives
· Ensure that all operators are trained on the proper and safe way to use all machinery
· Communicate well with all shift personnel on all issues
· Provide training to all on shift regarding product quality and troubleshooting processes
· Encourage and participate in sharing of knowledge and technical information
· Assist in providing work direction to all crew members
· Continually look for opportunities to improve shift performance and harmony
· Complete all required documentation and reports accurately, submitting them on time and in a professional manner
· Plan ahead, be prepared with an alternate plan in case of power failure or short circuits
· Look for ways to increase reliability of line performance and all line processes (Extruder, Folder, Bag Machine, Winders, etc)
· Observe the equipment, talk with the operators and packers about any problems and new information, assist and/or make management approved adjustments to the equipment providing improvement in production and quality
· Continually review processing procedures and practices, retraining crew on revolving basis
· Monitor the equipment noting the sounds and visually observe components, recording and reporting to Maintenance the signs of wear and tear
· In troubleshooting, be observant to identify and attack the root causes of production and personnel problems, fixing the real problem not the symptom
· Communicate with Maintenance Mechanics throughout the shift to stay abreast of any problems of areas of concern
· Keep a good relationship and communicate with all Maintenance crew members
· Keep good communication with Management
· Join in assuming responsibility for overall plant production and scrap
· Be a role model and enforce safety, excellent work attitude and set high standards for your work performance
· Ensure that all operators are trained in the proper and safe way to use all machinery
· Report all work injuries and near misses within 24 hours of occurrence. Complete post incident investigation, address any work area deficiencies and hold employee accountable for any unsafe behavior via progressive discipline.
· Help motivate and focus your staff on making safety a goal; daily safety topics, monthly safety training, issuing on the spot safety incentives, reinforce safety behaviors and standards.
· Evaluate and rate all staff on safety during annual reviews.
· Focus on maintaining a safe working environment through training, daily reinforcement that allows shift to reduce number of recordable accidents.
· Set goals for shift that align with company goals
· Build a bench strength for the shift – succession planning
· Drive accountability at all levels
· Responsible for correct unloading of the rail cars for their shift
· Other duties may be assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
· High School diploma, GED or higher
· Bilingual preferred, must be able to speak and write in Spanish
· Minimum 3 years in a position of leadership in manufacturing environment, preferably as Supervisor
· 5 years in manufacturing experience, preferably blown film plastics
· Must have Basic Computer Knowledge
· Strong mechanical knowledge
· Ability to lift more than 30 pounds
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position will spend 95% of the time in a manufacturing environment. During time spent in the manufacturing plant, this position is subject to moderate noise levels, very light dust, high and low temperatures and other standard elements of a manufacturing environment.
