Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Licensed Land Surveyor / Survey Manager to lead survey operations for civil and transportation projects. This senior-level role combines technical expertise, leadership, and client management. You will supervise multiple field crews, ensure project quality, and drive business development in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, supervise, and coordinate daily activities of field crews and office technicians.
- Ensure QA/QC compliance, manage project budgets, schedules, and client expectations.
- Coordinate with VDOT and local municipalities on roadway and utility corridor surveys.
- Support regional business growth through proposal development and client relationship management.
- Mentor and coach staff with one-on-one sessions, performance planning, and professional development.
Required Qualifications:
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license or eligibility to sit for the exam within six months (exam fees covered).
- 12+ years of surveying experience, including 5+ years in a supervisory role.
- Extensive experience with DOT and municipal projects.
- Proficiency in Bentley MicroStation / OpenRoads and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local survey regulations.
- High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in surveying or civil technology preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Subsurface utility locating/designating expertise.
- Experience with LiDAR, aerial mapping, or sUAS operations.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary: $85,000 $145,000, commensurate with experience and licensure.

- Sign-on bonus: $5,000 $10,000 (after 90 days) can be used for relocation or alternate reimbursement.
- Typical workweek: 4550 hours; office-based with occasional travel and field support.
