Permian Basin Electrical Instructor
Full-Time | Exempt.
Location: Permian Basin (Midland, Pecos, and surrounding rural areas)

Position Overview
Skillpoint Alliance is seeking a skilled electrical professional to lead instruction for our Pre-Apprentice Electrical program. We welcome candidates from licensed electrician backgrounds as well as professionals with engineering, automation, or electrical systems experience who bring a passion for teaching and workforce development.
This role combines technical instruction, hands-on lab facilitation, and student mentorship. The ideal candidate is confident in a lab environment, committed to safety, and motivated to prepare students for entry into the electrical trade.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, hands-on instruction using established curriculum
- Facilitate lab-based learning, including wiring devices and conduit bending (Greenlee standards)
- Maintain a safe, organized classroom and lab environment
- Prepare materials and manage equipment for daily instruction
- Support and mentor students in both technical and professional skill development
- Collaborate with program staff to ensure student progress and completion
- Maintain confidentiality of participant information
- Stay current with electrical code updates and industry trends
Required Qualifications
- Journey-level electrician license or
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering, electrical technology, automation, or a closely related field with relevant industry experience
- Demonstrated ability to teach or train technical concepts in a classroom or lab setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to accommodate occasional schedule adjustments
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching, training, or mentoring experience
- Experience with automation, industrial systems, or controls
- OSHA certification
- Familiarity with digital tools such as Zoom and Google Workspace
An equivalent combination of education and industry experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the role will be considered.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working with hand tools, power tools, and electrical equipment
- Combination of classroom instruction, lab supervision, and moderate computer work
