Practice Locations: Northside Hospital
Patient Care Services - Primarily for Phones/Scheduling, but with cross-training opportunities.
A Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for managing day-to-day responsibilities associated with patient calls, scheduling appointments, fielding patient telephone concerns, and various other front office tasks.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES*:
- Greet callers courteously, establish the reason for the call and direct incoming calls appropriately.
- Search for and/or add new patients in EMR. Add and update insurance information, complete vital areas of patient registration at time of call.
- Schedule and reschedule appointments of all types: Gyn, OB, Ancillary, “combo” appointments, in-office procedures, etc.
- Call to confirm or reschedule appointments, when necessary.
- Create or update phone encounters to send messages to nurses, prescription refills or other departments. A record of each call should be kept by entering details into the EMR system.
- Identify and direct calls that require transfer or overhead paging due to the severity of the concern.
- Review documents and be able to identify disability paperwork and understand when to email Medical Records.
- Problem solve and diffuse patient concerns, as needed. Determine the need to escalate to a manager when appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed. Check-in/check-out responsibilities may be required to cover for other staff. All staff must function as active team players, assisting with all positions as needed or requested.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum Experience: Some previous work-related experience, eCW (eClinicalWorks) EMR experience preferred but not required.
- Bilingual English/Spanish (preferred but not required)

- Must possess the ability to make decisions and problem solve
