Position Summary:

The Production Data Technician performs data gathering, entry, analysis and quality/accuracy checks on all aspects of Factory production and processing operations including dryers, wet plant processing and dry plant output. Performs data updates, reporting, invoice processing, assisting daily green bean (GB) transfer, shipping, and inventory control. Utilize the Sortly application to upload and update all factory equipment, materials, and office essentials. Other administrative support duties as assigned.

Primary Functions:

  • Responsible for data integrity and accuracy with regards to data provided by the laboratory, coffee dryers, milling, maintenance and field departments. Provides feedback to Processing Supervisor, Factory & Maintenance Manager, and others regarding data accuracy/discrepancies to ensure correctness of all data.
  • Collects and processes source documents such as delivery tickets, dryer log sheet, metal crate tags, dry plant input, bin tracker, etc., and reviews data, resolves discrepancies, returns incomplete documents for resolution.

In-Season Processing

  • Inventories and prepares necessary tags and tickets for Factory processing operation.
  • Obtains and logs daily fuel readings of liquid propane (LP) gas and diesel fuel for pre-dryer and dryer operations.
  • Trains and directs others assigned to assist this position, primarily during harvest and milling.
  • Prepares and updates binders, forms and log sheets for data collection from wet process, drying and milling operations, cherry delivery log, cupping sheet, grading sheet, etc. for Lab office.
  • Utilizes the State of Hawaii, Department of Agriculture Standards for Coffee. Reviews each state Certificate of Origin and grading sheet as received for accuracy and communicates any discrepancies. Inputs data from both State and Lab grade sheets to database. Scans and files State Application for Certification of Quality and Condition and Applicant’s Declaration of Origin and submits to accounting dept.

Including Post-Season Processing

  • Tracks green bean production, grading, shipping, sales, and inventory location to maintain accurate green bean physical inventory at all times.
  • Assist daily shipping, transfer, data entry and inventory control using Microsoft (MS) excel.
  • Updates and maintains documentation as needed for Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Create and maintain Factory equipment, materials and office supply using the Sortly app to make sure that Inventory is always up to date for all factory areas. Assist and physically check materials and verify the usage as necessary. Reporting re-stocking to each areas Process Supervisors.
  • Creates and maintains an ordering system for factory office supplies. Manages the supplies order form for office supplies. Manages the copy machine supplies and maintenance calls as needed.
  • Updating existing Department Standard Operating Procedures (S.O.P.) or create new S.O.P as needed and instructed. Maintain the file.
  • Submitting Daily Safety Meeting Attendance sheet into the safety portal.
  • Must be knowledgeable of and comply with all Federal, State, Local and Company safety, health and environmental regulations and Company/Union agreement. Provides a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills/Knowledge Requirements:

  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent
  • Experience in MS Word and Excel
