Capitol Language Services is a company founded in 2006 serving public and private schools in Washington D.C.

Our Spanish language program aims to foster the development of a strong foundation for foreign-language acquisition while providing effective, engaging instruction at the elementary and middle school levels.


Title of position: Experienced Spanish Language Teacher

Location: Elementary/middle school in Capitol Hill, located few blocks from the US Capitol.

Hours:

Monday 8:00 AM 1:30 PM with (Preparation time 11:33-12:45 pm)

5 classes of 42 minutes each.

Tuesday 8:00 AM -11:30 AM

4 classes of 42 minutes each.

Wednesday 9:30 AM -1:30 PM (Preparation time 11:33-12:45 pm)

3 classes of 42 minutes each.

Thursday 8 AM-11:30 AM

4 classes of 42 minutes each.

Compensation:
$35/hour plus 2 hours of paid prep time each week.


Key responsibilities:

  1. Teaching Spanish language courses to students at the elementary and middle school levels (pre-K4 to 8th grade)
  2. CLS curriculum must be strictly followed. The selected teacher will be required to plan challenging and engaging lessons and experiences designed to help students achieve content and curriculum standards. Ensure that lessons have multiple entry points and support structures, so that children with different abilities and learning styles are successful.
  3. Maintaining accurate records of student progress and performance.
  4. Maintaining regular communication with parents and CLS office.


Minimum qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Second Language Acquisition or Spanish Language.
  • Two years of experience teaching Spanish language courses at the elementary and middle school levels with a strong record of student achievement.
  • Native or near-native proficiency in both Spanish and English.
  • Solid subject matter knowledge and demonstrated knowledge of the content and the methods of teaching Spanish.
  • Must be committed and able to teach in a full-immersion environment with minimum use of English.

Additional requirements:

  • Must be available for school events and training August 18 and 25, 2025.
  • Must be available for the first day of classes August 26, 2025 until the last day of classes June 12, 2026.
  • Must hold a US work authorization.

Calendar:



A calendar of closure will be provided, but please note the following breaks:

  • All major US Holidays
  • October 27, November 11, November 26-28, December 22-January 2, April 1-10
    Last day of school June, 12, 2026.
  • Please note that days, hours and breaks cant be changed.
