Skilled general laborers will perform multiple tasks, primarily installing pre-engineered metal panels on the exterior of data centers. This involves using impacts, steel erecting tools, and scissor lifts.

Responsibilities

  • Install pre-engineered metal wall and roof panels according to project specifications, drawings, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Assist with layout, alignment, and fastening of structural components.
  • Utilize steel-erecting tools such as impact wrenches, torque tools, shears, snips, grinders, and panel lifting equipment.
  • Work at heights using lifts, ladders, and scaffolding while following all safety protocols.
  • Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and installation instructions.
  • Coordinate with foremen and crew members to maintain workflow and meet project deadlines.
  • Perform material handling, staging, and site cleanup as needed.
  • Inspect installed components for quality, accuracy, and compliance with project standards.

Essential Skills

  • 1+ year of experience in pre-engineered metal building erection.
  • 1+ year of power tool and hand tool experience.
  • 1+ year experience working on scissor lifts.
  • General labor, iron work, steel erection, construction, fabrication, welding.
  • OSHA 10 Certification.
  • Experience in structural steel, roofing, and equipment installation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience installing metal panels, steel structures, or similar construction systems.
  • Proficiency with steel-erecting and metal-fabrication tools.
  • Ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance.
  • Ability to work as part of a team on large-scale commercial or industrial projects.

Work Environment

Work hours are Monday to Saturday, 6am to 4:30pm, weather permitting. This role involves outdoor, year-round work with exposure to varying weather conditions such as cold winters, high winds, and hot, dry summers. It is a physically demanding environment requiring lifting heavy materials, climbing ladders, working at heights, and standing for long periods. The site is an active construction zone with heavy equipment, steel erection activities, and multiple trades working simultaneously. The pace is fast and production-driven, especially on large commercial or data-center projects with tight schedules. Coordination with foremen, steel erectors, carpenters, and other trades is crucial in this team-oriented environment. Strict adherence to OSHA and site-specific safety protocols is mandatory, with required personal protective equipment including hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, high-visibility gear, and fall-protection equipment. Expect frequent use of steel-erecting tools and aerial lifts, ladders, and scaffolding. Full-time, onsite work with potential for overtime, especially during peak construction seasons, is typical, with early start times and long days common during summer months.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
