ABOUT THE ROLE
Holcim US, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Skid Steer Operator to support the operations in the Asphalt division. This position will be responsible for Monitoring, directing and coordinating activities of project personnel to ensure projects progress are on schedule and within prescribed budget. Coordinates and collaborates with Project Manager, other Superintendent's, other Project Managers, General Contractors and the customer to implement successful project plans. Also scheduling, coordinating and supervising the work of all site operatives, ensuring that all work is delivered safely on time and within budget along with managing equipment and materials required.


WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Operate a skid steer to support asphalt paving and road construction operations.
  • Load and transport asphalt, aggregate, and other materials around the job site.
  • Remove debris, old asphalt, and other waste materials from work areas.
  • Assist in prepping the job site by grading, backfilling, and leveling surfaces.
  • Use various skid steer attachments (e.g., buckets, sweepers, forks) to complete tasks as directed.
  • Perform basic daily inspections and routine maintenance on the skid steer to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Communicate with paving and site crews to coordinate material movement and equipment use.
  • Follow site safety protocols and maintain awareness of surroundings, especially when working around other equipment and personnel.
  • Work in varying weather conditions and be available for extended shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Support general labor and asphalt crew tasks as needed during downtime or equipment maintenance.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Field of Study Preferred: N/A
  • Required Work Experience: Minumium 2 years
  • Travel Requirements: Daily Ttravel required
  • Proficient in operating skid steers and related attachments (buckets, sweepers, forks, etc.)
  • Knowledge of asphalt paving processes and job site operations
  • Basic mechanical skills for daily equipment checks and minor maintenance
  • Understanding of grading, leveling, and material handling
  • Ability to read and follow site plans or supervisor instructions
  • Strong awareness of safety protocols and ability to operate around other equipment and crews
  • Physical stamina to work outdoors in varying weather and handle physically demanding tasks
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed
  • Clear communication skills to coordinate with crew members and supervisors
  • Problem-solving skills to address minor equipment or operational issues on the job
  • Pass a 7-year criminal background check, including both felonies and misdemeanors, as required for employment

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
