Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An elementary-level Special Education teaching opportunity is available for the spring academic term from January 5 to May 28. This contract position offers the chance to work within a dedicated school community supporting students in a resource special education setting. The role involves managing a typical elementary caseload, providing individualized educational services to meet diverse student needs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities.
- Collaborating with general education teachers to modify curriculum and adapt lessons.
- Monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Participating in team meetings and parent conferences to develop individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Ensuring compliance with all state and federal special education regulations.
Qualifications:
- Active Special Education certification as recognized by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
- Experience working with elementary-aged students in special education settings.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to implement effective behavioral and academic interventions.
Work hours are full-time, Monday through Friday from 8:45 a.m. to 4:40 p.m., totaling 37.5 hours per week. The position will be based at an elementary school in Lees Summit, Missouri.
