Job Description
As a Production Lead, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and guiding workers in their daily activities to ensure the production of high-quality products. You will be responsible for maintaining safety standards, ensuring adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices, and monitoring product quality. This role requires strong leadership skills and the ability to manage manufacturing software and inventory accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and lead workers in daily activities to produce products.
- Receive packaging specs and work orders to determine product to be produced and ensure correctness of packaging materials and labels.
- Ensure adherence to safety rules and communicate unresolved issues to supervisors.
- Operate a handheld scanner to manage manufacturing software and record all manufacturing transactions.
- Reconcile department staging area using Mapics RF tools.
- Utilize a computer to run automated reports and enter Work Order requests.
- Schedule and monitor lunches and breaks of crew members.
- Operate production equipment and ensure compliance with safety guidelines.
- Perform and assign housekeeping and sanitation responsibilities daily according to GMP standards.
- Monitor product quality and safety documentation, reporting production data as specified.
- Update the communication board daily and conduct shift change meetings.
- Perform all required QC testing in the department during the shift.
- Direct crew members towards efficient production, identifying bottlenecks and product loss.
- Ensure all HACCP and CQP documentation and checks are performed correctly.
- Ensure adherence to allergen procedures and policies.
- Communicate the importance of changing outer garments when working with allergens.
- Use basic math skills to calculate quantities of ingredients for partial batches.
- Ensure smooth transition of lines to the oncoming shift.
- Participate in Safety & Quality programs.
- Enter Work Order requests to support S, Q, C, D, M.
- Perform all other related duties as required.
Essential Skills
- One to three years of related experience and/or training.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
- Proficiency in basic math skills, including fractions.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and interpret bar graphs.
- Common sense understanding to conduct instructions and deal with standardized problems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in production, general labor, supervision, continuous improvement, and production supervision.

Work Environment
Working in a food company requires adherence to GMP rules, including wearing a uniform, hair net, beard net, and safety shoes. Sanitization procedures include washing up before entering the floor and sanitizing boots and hands before entering each room. The facility includes 8 production rooms with 2-4 people per line and 4 packaging lines. The position involves working 1st Shift from 3am-1:30pm, Monday to Thursday, with potential progression to floor lead and additional responsibilities.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elk Grove Village, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.00/hr.
