Place of Performance-FCC Lompoc Health Services Department 3901 Klein Blvd. Lompoc, CA 93436
Schedule of Performance- A session is defined as one hour. The contractor will normally provide eight (1) hour sessions per day, 5 days per week, Monday through Friday, excluding Federal Holidays. Work hours will normally be between 6:00 A.M. – 2:30 P.M. with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. These hours may be adjusted to meet the needs of the institution. If the hygienist is working in the clinic of a Dental Officer who is on a compressed work schedule the hygienists schedule may be altered at the Chief Dental Officer’s (CDO) discretion to match said compressed schedule. The contractor shall not normally exceed 40 hours per week.
Education and Experience-The Contractor is required to be certified/licensed as a Dental Hygienist in the State of California and must submit photocopies of their license and/or board certification along with their quote. Must have a least one year of experience.
Description of Duties
The contractor will provide services, professional in nature, in the method as considered normal in the local community and in accordance with Joint Commission standards and Bureau of Prison policies. The performance of these services will also be verified by the designated COR.
The Contractor will generally work under the supervision of a Dental Officer; however, may be required to work under the supervision of the Clinical Director or a BOP mid-level practitioner. The Contractor will be responsible for personal health care needs and costs associated with exposure, or possible exposure to any blood borne pathogen or other risk encountered during performance of this contract. The contractor shall provide the following Dental Hygienist services, which include, but are not limited to, the items listed
below.
• Provide dental prophylaxis on Adults in Custody (AIC) who are referred by the dental staff
• Provide periodontal scaling and root planning on AIC who are referred by the dental staff
• Provide complete periodontal charting on AIC
• Provide thorough individualized oral hygiene instructions to each AIC
• Monitor oral hygiene and periodontal condition on each AIC seen for dental prophylaxis
• Complete necessary dental x-rays as specified by the dentist
• Sterilize instruments used for prophylaxis and other instruments as specified by the dental staff
• Perform necessary paperwork related to scheduling patients for dental prophylaxis as directed by the dental
staff
