Purpose of this position:

The purpose of this position is to provide transportation for residents or staff to various clinics, shopping areas, the hospital and the airport. To provide transportation for specimens and supplies for residents in the medical units.

Qualifications

Education:

  1. Must hold a current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) License in the State of Nebraska
  2. High school diploma preferred G.E.D. certificate or demonstrated ability to read and write.
  3. Knowledge of the State of Nebraska Driving Laws.

Personal:

  1. Must be at least twenty-five (25) years of age with a valid Nebraska driver’s license and proof of current insurance.
  2. Cannot have been convicted of any crime related to any services to be provided under this job description, including, but not limited to, moral turpitude, assault or violence.
  3. Must be able to speak and understand the English language or a language understood by a substantial portion of the facility’s residents.
  4. Possess personal qualities making it possible to maintain good interpersonal relationships; e.g. respect for each person as an individual, kindness, and loyalty.
  5. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  6. Maintain the flexibility to work at either campus at administration request.
  7. Must be willing to work flexible hours and on-call status.
  8. Go directly to the Resident’s Rights worksheet.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide transportation to residents in accordance with Northfield Retirement, Inc’s policies and procedures.
  2. Provide care to residents following facility policies and procedures
  3. Report residents’ needs and concerns to a licensed nurse
  4. To ensure seatbelt compliance for all passengers.
  5. Follow written and oral directions.
  6. Follow established performance standards and perform duties according to Company policies and procedures.
  7. Assist new employees in following established facility policies and procedures.
  8. Identify resident problems and concerns and report them immediately to a charge nurse or a licensed nurse.
  9. Complete assignments timely, completely and accurately.
  10. Identify safety hazards and emergency situations, and initiate corrective action.
  11. Attend all in-service classes as assigned and complete assignments.
  12. Assume personal responsibility for following facility procedures related to control of equipment and supplies.
  13. Document incidents and/or unusual problems according to established facility procedures.
  14. Participate in facility meetings as assigned.
  15. Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information.
  16. Follow facility procedures for transportation of residents.
  17. Complete documentation accurately, timely and following facility policies and procedures.
  18. Listen to resident and family complaints and report problems to Charge Nurse.
  19. Assure residents have seatbelts and locking devices in place.
  20. Demonstrate competency in skills and techniques necessary to care for resident’s needs in compliance with State regulations
  21. Consistently work cooperatively with residents, charge nurses, treatment nurses, restorative nurses, other nursing assistants, physicians, families, consultant personnel and ancillary service providers.
  22. Observe all facility safety policies and procedures.
  23. Come to work in clean, neat attire with nametag and consistently present an appropriate professional appearance.
  24. Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctually.
  25. Assume accountability for data contained in the employees’ handbook.
  26. Perform other related duties as directed by his/her supervisor.
  27. Perform all duties assigned in an effective, timely and professional manner.
