Job Description
Our client, a leading industrial distribution company, is seeking a Distribution Center Manager to lead day-to-day operations of a high-volume warehouse and yard. This role is responsible for overseeing productivity, inventory control, safety, and on-time order fulfillment while managing supervisors and frontline teams. The Distribution Center Manager will drive process improvements, ensure operational standards are met, and partner closely with senior leadership to support efficient, customer-focused distribution operations.Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily operations across the warehouse and yard, ensuring accurate order fulfillment, inventory integrity, and consistent service levels
  • Direct and support supervisory staff and hourly teams to meet throughput, quality, and productivity targets
  • Plan staffing and workflow to align with volume demands while controlling labor costs and overtime
  • Review operational performance with team leads and develop action plans to improve efficiency and reduce loss
  • Establish and reinforce operational practices related to material handling, storage, shipping, and receiving
  • Ensure facilities, equipment, and tools are properly maintained and safe for daily use
  • Monitor inventory processes and controls to support accuracy and availability
  • Promote a safety-first culture by enforcing policies, conducting regular reviews, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations
  • Partner with senior leadership on operational planning, performance metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Address operational issues proactively and make sound decisions to keep distribution activities running smoothly

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Proven experience leading operations within a warehouse, yard, or distribution center environment
  • 5+ years in an operations leadership role overseeing supervisors and frontline industrial employees
  • Strong background in inventory management
  • Experience working in industrial distribution environments with high-volume product movement
  • Advanced user of ERP-based inventory systems and technology-driven operational processes
  • Proficiency with standard business software tools (Microsoft Office or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated ability to improve processes while maintaining operational standards and controls
  • Capable of working independently while serving as a trusted partner to senior leadership
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills in fast-paced operational settings
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient work environment

The base pay range for this position is $95,000–$110,000, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final compensation will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future growth.
