The Opportunity

ContextGlobal is hiring a credentialed full-time Educational ASL Interpreter to support Deaf and Hard of Hearing students and staff in a K-12 public school setting in the Washington D.C. area. If you hold an EIPA 3.5+ or RID certification and want a stable, ongoing school year assignment with a quality-focused agency, we want to hear from you.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be assigned to a school for the duration of the school year (or as needed) and will provide ASL interpreting support for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students and staff who use ASL as their primary mode of communication. This is a full-time staff position; qualified independent contractors may also be considered.

Required Qualifications

EIPA 3.5+ OR RID Certification (NIC, CI/CT, or equivalent)

Completion of an Interpreter Training Program (graduates of accredited programs preferred)

At least two years of documented experience as an ASL interpreter

Proficient signing and voicing skills

Strong knowledge of educational vocabulary, ASL, and Deaf culture

Preferred Qualifications

NIC Written

Prior K-12 educational interpreting experience

Core Competencies

Ethical decision-making

Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

Ability to interact effectively with students, school staff, families, and management from a variety of backgrounds

Adherence to the RID Code of Professional Conduct

Required Pre-Employment Screenings

Because this position is in a public school setting, the successful candidate will be required to complete:

TB screening

Criminal background check and fingerprinting

Drug test

All interviews and screenings will be conducted in ASL and spoken English.
