PAY

Full-time base pay is $27.00 per hour with an additional 5% shift differential for evenings (3p-11p).

SCHEDULE

Mondays and Thursdays 7am - 11pm (16 hours per day).

SUMMARYAssists in the implementation of client care and administers medications according to established protocols on an inpatient mental health crisis stabilization unit.

JOB FUNCTION

• Administers prescribed medication and nursing treatment to consumers in accordance with physician orders and the treatment program.
• Educates clients regarding medication compliance and potential side effects.
• Assesses and records the consumer response to medication regime.
• Participates as an active member of the treatment team. Begins nursing assessment and/or formulates a plan of care as directed by the registered nurse.
• Documents pertinent consumer interactions, assessments and responses to interventions, updating the plan of care as needed.
• Assists RN with completion of hourly rounds in ObservSmart.
• Demonstrates skillful verbal intervention/crisis prevention techniques.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCEMinimum: Licensure as an LPN and documentation of successful completion of a pharmacology course and/or examination.Preferred: Licensure as an LPN and documentation of successful completion of a pharmacology course and/or examination and one (1) year of psychiatric nursing experience in an in-patient or out-patient mental health or substance abuse setting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSMust be able to sit, twist, bend and stand for long periods. Must be able to transport self from building to building and differing locations. Must be able to communicate orally and in writing. Must be able to perform both verbal and physical Non-Abusive Psychological and Physical Intervention (NAPPI) skills.

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONSExposure to consumers and all possible program emergencies and conditions, including physical intervention and potential verbal abuse by clients. Possible irregular or extended working hours if/when the need arises.
