About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Writer with at least three (3) years of IT technical writing experience to join our team. This is a full-time, on-site role with occasional telework permitted upon approval by the Operations Manager and COR (or COR designee). The Technical Writer will support the Service Desk and other Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) areas by creating and maintaining technical documentation that clearly conveys complex IT concepts to a wide range of audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Create, update, and maintain technical documentation including (but not limited to):
    • Knowledge Repository content
    • OIGNEWSLINK articles
    • Standard operating procedures and process documents
    • Online help materials and user guides
    • White papers, requirements documents, and use cases
    • Documentation for items escalated to Tier III and Engineering teams
  • Collaborate with Service Desk personnel and other IT staff to gather information and ensure documentation is accurate and comprehensive.
  • Maintain version control and manage the technical writing repository.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
  • Ensure consistency and adherence to documentation standards and best practices.
  • Serve solely as a technical writer; will not perform IT support duties such as equipment deployment or conference room checks.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in IT technical writing.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to grasp and simplify complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Visio, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience with version control tools and maintaining structured document repositories.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work across teams and functions.
  • Knowledge of technical documentation industry standards and best practices.

Certification Requirements

  • Required:
    • At least one (1) Intermediate-Level Industry Certification, such as:
      • CompTIA Security+ (Sec+)
      • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
      • Microsoft Modern Desktop Administrator Associate
  • Desired:
    • Higher-Level Industry Certifications, including but not limited to:
      • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
      • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
      • Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert
