Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A school is seeking experienced Special Education Teachers to support diverse elementary and middle school students for the 2025-2026 school year. This contract-to-hire position offers the opportunity to work in a supportive, inclusive environment with small caseloads, allowing for focused, individualized instruction.
Location: Naval Anacost Annex, Washington, DC
Grade Levels: Kindergarten, 1st, 5th, 6th, and 7th grades
Schedule: Full-time, on-site, Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM (45 hours per week)
Contract Duration: July 31 through June 18
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction primarily through inclusion and small group pull-out models
- Manage caseloads of fewer than 10 students, tailoring instruction to individual learning needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support student success within a multi-building campus
- Deliver instruction aligned with established curriculum standards, with a preference for candidates with ELA/English experience (preferred but not required)
- Participate in onsite interviews, including delivering a demonstration lesson to showcase instructional skills
- Support students individualized education plans (IEPs) and conduct ongoing progress monitoring
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid state teaching license (flexible regarding out-of-state credentials)
- Experience working with special education students in K-7 grade levels
- Strong classroom management and instructional differentiation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff across different buildings on the same campus
- Willingness to engage in onsite teaching in a full-time capacity
